Dental Bridges

Are you tired of seeing gaps in your smile? Is tooth loss causing your oral health to suffer?

Dental bridges are a great way to fill the gaps and give you a healthy, natural-looking smile.

Let Drs. Carmen Every-Degel and Clifford Degel in Queens, NY, give you the smile of your dreams through dental bridges.

What Are Dental Bridges?

/

A dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth connected on both sides by dental crowns. The prosthetic tooth fits in the tooth gap, while the crowns cap the teeth next to the gap (abutment teeth). The prosthetic tooth and the crowns are designed to match your natural teeth so they are virtually undetectable. They are an effective means of bridging any gaps in your smile.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Bridges?

Giving you a confident smile isn't the only thing dental bridges can accomplish. Dental bridges can also:

Realign Your Bite

Dental bridges can correct your bite, preventing damage to your jawbone and strengthening your ability to chew.

Correct Speech Problems

Missing teeth can cause difficulty speaking. Dental bridges allow you to speak clearly and effectively.

Help Maintain Oral Health

Dental bridges can minimize the chance of tooth decay, periodontal disease, and bone loss.

Prevent Tooth Movement

Filling tooth gaps will prevent your surrounding teeth from shifting, which helps prevent TMJ disorders (TMD).

Give Facial Structure Support

Filling in the gaps left by missing teeth allows your cheeks and lips to fall into place as they would with your natural teeth.

Provide Enhanced Comfort

Missing teeth can be frustrating and uncomfortable. Bridges look and function like your natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile like you used to.

Offer Long-Lasting Results

With proper aftercare and regular checkups with your dentist, your bridges can last more than 10 years.

Benefits of Implant-Supported Bridges

Dental implants are considered the strongest and one of the most stable ways to secure your dental bridge. Implants are also a permanent fixture in your mouth, so with proper care, your dental implants will last a lifetime. Your bridges should only have to be replaced every 10-15 years.

What to Expect

If dental bridges are right for you, two separate appointments with our dentists will be required for the procedure. Your first appointment will consist of preparation of your abutment teeth, sculpting your surrounding teeth, and being fitted with your temporary bridge.
As bridges can be placed in areas where one to three teeth are missing, they are an effective treatment option for the majority of our patients with dental gaps.
As bridges can be placed in areas where one to three teeth are missing, they are an effective treatment option for the majority of our patients with dental gaps.

Preparation

Your dentist will prep the teeth on both sides of the gap where the false tooth will be inserted. The area will be numbed using a mild anesthetic for optimum comfort.

Sculpting

Your dentist will sculpt down the surrounding teeth so the new dental bridge can fit into place.

Impression

Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth so the dental laboratory can create your customized pontics and crowns. Then you will be fitted with a temporary dental bridge to protect your teeth and gums.

Second Appointment

Your temporary dental bridge will be removed and the new, permanent bridge will be put into position. We will make sure the dental bridge fits comfortably and works well for your bite before bonding it to your teeth.

It is crucial to prioritize your oral health as the longevity and stability of your dental bridge depends on your surrounding teeth. Proper dental care like brushing, flossing, and routine dental exams will help prevent cavities, tooth decay, and tooth loss.

Cost of Dental Bridges

Just as everyone's smiles are unique, so is the cost of your bridge. The cost greatly depends on how many teeth you are replacing and what type of bridge you choose. Everyone at our Queens dental office believes patients should have a smile they're proud of, no matter the cost. That's why we offer low monthly payment plans and financing options like CareCredit®, Proceed Financing® and Alphaeon.

Astoria Dental Group can get you the dental care you need. If you live in Astoria, Long Island City, or anywhere in NYC, reach out to our office to see how we can work with your budget.

Fixed Bridges vs. Dentures

The first step in deciding which tooth replacement option is right for you is to talk to your dentist. There are pros and cons to both options, but certain factors will depend on which tooth replacement treatment is best for you.

Fixed Bridges

Fixed bridges are a great option for people who have just a few missing teeth and whose surrounding teeth are strong enough to support the permanent structure. They are extremely sturdy and allow the wearer to chew food as they would with their natural teeth.

Dentures

Dentures are a great option for people who are missing multiple teeth (especially in different areas of the mouth), or for people whose remaining teeth are not sturdy enough to support a dental bridge. Since dentures are removable, they are not as sturdy as a fixed bridge, but they are easy to clean.
